NEW NOTIONS

Happy to tell you that new shipment of our most favorite basting spray--505--has arrived!
Read our review of 505 HERE

Also this wonderful TEFLON pressing sheet is a marvel when working with fusible applique!

Keep your sewing machine and tools operating smoothly--avoid costly repairs with this nifty new lubricant--has a little tube you spray thru (kind of like WD 40 has) but it is a special purified lubricant for machines, scissors, rotary cutters as well as hinges and locks!

You learn something new every day!

I bought my daughter in North Dakota one of our terrific LED lights (the floor model) so she could actually see the stitches she embroiders on the ornaments and hoop art she creates.
(The dim lighting in apartment just wasn't "doing it").  So I put it together for her and set it next to her bed where she usually works so "little people" in the home don't get into the needles and pins...

...so the first thing dear daughter says when I turn it on in the dark room--
    "Look, Girls!  It's SHADOWS!!!"
which delighted my little granddaughters beyond excitement...and so there is yet another reason to LOVE these LIGHTS--Shadowplay.
Dobeedo is 3 yr old Ivy's beloved stuffed sheep.

LED LIGHTS ARE BACK!!!

HOORAY--We love these lights, You will too!

All 3 styles of lights are great for sewing--The stem of each light is "bendy" so you can get light exactly where you need it! Shine the light on your work; NOT in your eyes while sewing by machine or hand!  The "light head" is small so it does not block line of vision --
LED light can last 10,000 hrs, and is a "COOL" light(as in NOT HOT--although we think they are pretty cool--like HIP)--which is much appreciated when quilting or hand stitching.

We use the DESK LIGHT behind the sewing machine and bend to just the right spot to chase those pesky shadows away!  Use it on side table when hand sewing-  Cindy even uses the desk light on her ironing board for better light when trimming and pressing!

DESK LIGHT comes in BLACK, WHITE, CRANBERRY, TURQUOISE, and GOLD--just $21.99

The CLIP-ON LIGHT has a slightly shorter "stem" than the desk light.  It has a strong grip with little suction doohickies that will grab firmly onto your machine quilting table or a shelf. This one available in 3 BRIGHT COLORS for $23

The FLOOR LIGHT is a good height for chairside or near your sewing machine or ironing board. The floor light comes in WHITE or BLACK for only $59.

Wonderful WOVEN COTTON Fusible INTERFACING

This fusible interfacing we keep in stock is just wonderful!
It is WOVEN Cotton--like fabric
NOT papery whatever interfacing
It Fuses by ironing beautifully
It has a smooth adhesive side(can you see the sheen?)--
NOT lumpy dots
It is 44" wide
NOT 22"

We love using this iron-on interfacing when making Mary Beth's WOW Bag--
It is easy to use and is a versatile light to medium weight.
It is the perfect fusible stabilizer for making T Shirt quilts.
It works perfectly in garment sewing too!
The 44" width lets you cut the size you need without "piecing".
WE LOVE IT!!!
It's WOVEN--It's COTTON--It's FUSIBLE
It's PERFECT!!!

Review Time! The Skinny on Fusible Web Tape

We have always loved using Steam-A-Seam products for fusing applique and we now carry Steam-A-Seam in rolls of 1/2" and 1/4" widths.  Skinny fusibles are great for doing appliques--stems, etc, attaching trims, hemming, and zippers.

I thought I would do a little comparison of (SaS) Steam-A-Seam 2 fusible tape (1/4") with (SW) Stitch Witchery Tape (5/8" in light and normal.)  I applied each product between 2 strips of 100% cotton fabric according to manufacturers' directions. When cooled I pulled strips apart half way to check bonding--then I washed them--and repressed and checked bond again.
All of them bonded well and when pressed after washing--they all maintained a good bond and "rebonded" where I had pulled them apart.  For Applique you need to have a pressing cloth for both products to protect your iron from residue.   Both come in different widths--SaS in 1/4" and 1/2"--SW in 1/4", 5/8", 1", 2" in light to heavy.
My Preference is the Steam-A-Seam and here's why:
Only Steam-A-Seam is a little tacky to help it stay in place as you get ready to press. (although it sticks better if you warm the cloth with an iron before pressing the sticky side on.) Also it is a bit less stiff after fusing than SW.
Steam-A-Seam is applied in 20 seconds with a warm iron, while the Stitch Witchery tells you to use a damp cloth and steam and a little bit more time.
I also prefer 1/2" to 5/8" size for wider uses and IF you get the 1/4" SAS it comes in 40 yard packs compared to 20 yards for the SW.  1/2" SAS is also 20 yards.
